Change Your Mind?

If you’ve ever watched College GameDay or a major sporting event, you’ve probably seen someone in the crowd holding up a big sign that says “REPENT.” It’s bold, it’s attention-grabbing, and honestly, it’s flat-out cringey. Needless to say, the word “repent” has picked up quite a reputation.

“Repentance” tends to be associated with guilt, judgment, tears, or God’s disappointment. But what if we’ve completely misunderstood it? Tomorrow we’ll continue our “Therefore” series with a message from Romans 12:1–2, where Paul writes, “Be transformed by the renewal of your mind.” This is the key to understanding what repentance really means. For the believer, repentance isn’t a one-time act but an ongoing process of aligning our minds with who we truly are in Christ.

The Greek word for repentance literally means “to change one’s mind.” So, if you weren’t planning on coming to Reach tomorrow, you might need to repent…and join us at 10am!

See you soon,
Pastor Tyler
